A lot of YouTube is meant to be listened to rather than watched: talks, lessons, podcasts and interviews. Saving only the audio gives you a small file you can play offline, in the car or on a walk, without streaming the video:
- On YouTube, tap Share under the video or Short and choose Copy link, or copy the address from your browser bar.
- Paste the link into the box above and tap Analyze.
- Tap Download MP3. Clipzy extracts the audio track and the MP3 saves to your device.
Want the video instead? Paste the same link into the main YouTube video downloader to choose a quality from 144p up to 4K.
What YouTube MP3s Are Good For
- Lectures and courses: review a lesson offline without keeping a large video file.
- Podcasts and interviews: many are published on YouTube first; listen on the go.
- Your own uploads: recover the audio of a video you made, for a podcast feed or a new edit.
- Creative Commons content: reuse audio the creator has licensed for reuse, with credit.
Why an MP3 Is Faster Than a Video
YouTube stores sound and picture as separate streams. An MP3 only needs the audio stream, so there is no large video to fetch and nothing to merge, which is why audio downloads finish much faster than HD video. A one-hour talk as audio is a fraction of the size of the same talk in 1080p.
Where the MP3 Is Saved
On iPhone, Safari saves audio to the Files app under Downloads (audio files don't go to Photos). On Android, it lands in Downloads and appears in music and podcast apps. On Windows and Mac, it saves to your browser's downloads folder. For long videos, keep the tab open until the download finishes.
When a Video Won't Convert
- Private or removed videos can't be fetched.
- Age-restricted and members-only videos need a signed-in viewer, so login-free tools can't reach them.
- Live streams can't be saved while they are still live.
Respect Creators and Copyright
Music videos and most commercial content are protected by copyright. Use this converter for your own uploads, content licensed for reuse, and personal offline listening where that is allowed, and support artists by streaming or buying their music on official services.
