On a computer, Facebook only lets you "Save" a video to your Saved list. To get an actual MP4 you can edit, archive or play offline, you need the video's link and a downloader. It works in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari.
Step 1: Copy the Video Link
Pick whichever is easiest:
- Right-click the video while it plays and choose Copy video URL at current time.
- Click Share → Copy link under the post.
- Open the video on its own page (click the date or time of the post) and copy the address from the browser bar.
Step 2: Paste and Download
- Go to the Facebook video downloader.
- Click the paste box and press Ctrl+V (Windows) or Cmd+V (Mac), then press Enter.
- Choose a quality on the slider and click Download Video.
The MP4 goes to your Downloads folder. It plays in VLC, the Windows Media Player, QuickTime and any video editor.
Install Clipzy for One-Click Access
If you save videos often, install Clipzy as an app from your browser: click the purple download button at the top right of clipzy.video, then Install Clipzy. It opens in its own window from your taskbar or Dock. See how to install Clipzy.
Common Problems
- "Video not found": the post isn't public (friends only, private group) or was removed.
- You copied the post link but there are several videos: open the exact video first, then copy its link.
- Live videos: wait until the broadcast has ended and Facebook has saved it as a normal video.
